Going along with the theme of taking advantage of every moment left in Vina, we wanted to live up our last weekend al maximo. So to begin with, we finished up our Thursday classes and made plans to get together and go out with our friends. We got our name on a list for a club in Valpo and we had plans to go to Anna's apartment beforehand to hang out with people who didn't want to dance. For once, Emilio made a pizza so I enjoyed that with my family before heading out, pisco in hand. We had a crazy, memorable, night. I don't think the rest of the weekend topped that night. The next day we celebrated Dan's 20th birthday with dinner and karaoke at Pueblo Rico. We then met up with our friend Fran and went to another birthday party in the departamentos which we left soon after arriving, after negotiating with our friend Quique to host my birthday party the next day. We then spent the rest of the night chatting to Fran in her new auto next to the beach.
The next day was my birthday party. Emilio had promised me an almuerzo of Chorillana (a mountain of fries, meat, and onions). We went to a restaurant near my house that's known for it. It was so greasy and delicious, and we ate the majority of the mountain of fries!
That night, I went to Sam's house to do some old fashioned homemade makeovers before heading out for my birthday. What I wanted most for my celebration was to get all of our friends we had made over the course of the semester together one last time before we all left. The majority of the 30 people I had invited came which made for a special night. Two of my good Chilena friends, Sam, Anna, and Mackenzie made the night really great and I am so thankful for them. Along with my three hosts, who were so incredibly generous to give up their apartment, night, and cups... I had the best time. We eventually made our way to the club Stingray where we spent the rest of the night dancing, it wasn't my first choice in clubs but it was a pretty good time nonetheless! It was a 21st birthday to remember and I don't know how the next year could top it.
It was our last night out with all of our friends and the last walk home with mi vecinas who kept me company and safe all semester long. It definitely hadn't hit me that it was the last time, and looking back now I am happy for my tranquility that night. I am so grateful to everyone who made each weekend a complete blast and adventure to say the least. Nothing will top the friends made, conversation had, and dances learned throughout the semester. We'll see what Sal's has to offer, it's the only option I have!
